National Debt Helpline Holiday Season Opening Hours

Christmas can be a tough time financially. If you feel like you need to talk to someone about financial hardship, please note that the National Debt Helpline will be closed on the public holidays – December 26 and 27 and January 2.

If you live in NSW, Victoria, Tasmania and the Northern Territory, staff will be on hand to answer the 1800 007 007 number from December 28 to 30 and again from January 3.

However, if you live in Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia or the ACT, please note that the helpline will be closed after 4.30pm (AEDT) on December 23, and reopen on January 3.

As with many services during the holiday season, there will be fewer staff rostered on, so it may take us a little longer than usual to deal with your enquiry. Please bear with us – your call is important to us and we want to help you as best we can.

The live chat function on the National Debt Helpline has now closed, and will resume on Wednesday, January 4.
