National Debt Helpline data from last year
The National Debt Helpline continues to help hundreds of thousands of people every year. Our latest call and website data shows how vital our free service is to those in financial hardship.
In the 2020 – 2021 financial year our financial counsellors received more than 111, 000 calls to the 1800 007 007 helpline. March 2021 was the busiest month, with 10,792 calls, followed by May 2021 with 10,631calls.
Since the NDH was established in 2011 it has received more than 1.3 million calls. Our new online chat service (available via the chat widget on our website to people in ACT, NSW, NT, VIC, TAS and WA) dealt with 6,812 requests.
Our handy website, ndh.org.au, is becoming more popular. In the 2020 – 2021 financial year there were 387,358 visits – nearly 70,000 more than the previous year.
Of these, 87% were new visitors. 56% of the visitors were female, 44% were male. 51% of visitors were people aged between 18 – 34.
The most visited pages other than the home page were “find a financial counsellor”, “early access to your super” and “emergency financial assistance.”
Since the website’s launch in December 2016, it has had more than 1 million visits.
